“SRC-Vertical”, Ltd. was arranged in 2004 on the base of Federal State Rocket Center (Design Bureau named after Academician V.Makeyev, MSRC) and Uralmet Scientific Research Institute, UI. The activity of the company is focused on the development and fabrication of small and medium size Wind Turbines (WT) of 1…100 kW power, as well as of systems and complexes which include autonomous water purification systems designed on the base of submarine-carried water purifiers, hydrogen no-break power modules based on cryogenic technologies and other unique devices and aggregates.The shipping and servicing of systems and complexes on the base of wind turbines is carried by SRC-Vertical and its dealers.The company potential is based on the project, fabrication and experimental base of Federal State Rocket Center (Design Bureau named after Academician V.Makeyev, MSRC).
BIOGRAPHY OF THE COMPANY

The first 100 kW Horizontal Axis Wind Turbine (HAWT) was fabricated in 1995 by State Rocket Center.
However due to the financial limitations the further development of the HAWT turbine was stopped. |
Due to the deep research of different types of wind generators, and great advantages of Vertical Axis Wind Turbines (VAWT), the approach was changed and it was decided to develop the VAWT.

Due to theoretical and experimental research of “Savonius” rotors in 2001 “Uralmet” Institute had created the family of wind rotors which have shown very low efficiency (up to 17%).
It was decided to direct the efforts on more efficient VAWTs. |  |

In 2002 State Rocket Center and “Uralmet” Institute joined their efforts in mutual research of wind power generators (wind turbines). The main scientific research works were based on the improvement of “H-Darrieus” wind rotor.
In 2004 MSRC and “Uralmet” Institute established their daughter company named “SRC-Vertical”, Ltd. which won the prize of US Department of Energy in the amount of 1.3 million US dollars together with Empire Magnetics, Inc. (USA) and Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory (USA), for development of low maintenance high efficient VAWTS – Vertical Axis Wind Turbines.

In 2004-2006 the company developed the family of wind rotors of 1-3 kW power, with the goal of scaling them up to 100 kW in the future.
2 types of alternators were developed for wind turbines (low speed axial gap alternator, and combined excitation alternator with stabilizing of output voltage).
Aerodynamic brakes were designed for stabilizing of wind rotor rotation speed.
Special supporting bearing was developed to prolong the life time of wind turbine up to min. 20 years.
Supporting magnetic bearing was developed to prolong the life of wind turbine up to 50 years..
Electronic regulator of voltage and current provides stable characteristics on the output of system.
The appropriate diesel and gasoline generators, regulators, inverters and controllers provide reliable operation of the continuous no-break power systems.

In 2007 the company has started serial production of 1, 1.5, 3, 5 kW wind turbines. The serial production of 30 kW wind turbines is on the development stage. The company has started to develop 55 kW wind turbine. The development of wind turbine powered equipment was started in 2007 (water purification systems, wind-powered hydrogen production modules, hydro-electric stations, and much more).
