Funding

SRC-Vertical is involved in projects with several US companies including Lawrence Berekely National Lab  (LBNL), Empire Magnetics, Inc. and other companies via Inernational Scientific Technical Center (ISTC), CRDF Fund, etc.

The projects are funded by IPP - Initiatives for Proliferation Prevention program supervised by US Department of Energy (DOE) and intended for the collaboration with defense companies of Russian Federation as the sources of high technological development. The goal of the program is to help scientists in making some profit on the products they have designed, and avoid the possible export of technologies to aggressive groups and countries.
The funding of the projects is carried by the interested organizations (including US National Labs as well as commercial companies). The topic should be proposed by Defense Institute scientists which belong to the Defense System of Russia. The scientists should be qualified specialists to accomplish the appropriate project. The number of the first investments does not exceed $1 million.

The topic is civilian. However the double application can be considered. SRC-Vertical can consult the potential applicants in topics and collaborators.

To take part in the project, it is necessary to have Principle Investigator (the leader of the project), who has to be valuable recognizable specialist in this specific field.

The list of the other projects to be funded by US DOE is issued annually from 1 January to 1 March. The main partner of the project (Industrial Partner) should be US filed company, which has some business and tax records.

To take part in the project the applicant should file the application according to the forms available on Internet. In case of positive solution of IPP Commission the winner can start working and getting funds.

Usually the project has the following phases:
•    1 phase – concept development, preliminary design documentation
•    2 phase – development of design documentation and prototyping
•    3 phase – involvement of private investors under against security of US Department of Energy (the sum is not limited)

The finding is carried via ISTC (International Scientific Technical Center, Moscow) and several European and US Agencies and Funds.

JURISDICTION
The described activity approved and encouraged by Russian Government which issues the special permission and tax concessions for participants of such programs.
